I Miss NY

My favorite place in New York, New York to go eat is definitely Little Italy. An abundance of good Italian restaurants in one place? I'm there. While I was doing research for school on Wikipedia, even though we're not supposed to use Wikipedia for school, I got distracted and Googled ethnic places to visit in southern California and somehow I found myself a Little Italy in San Diego. One hour away and professing to be the cure to my New York homesickness, Little Italy seemed to be the place to go. For lunch, my family and I chose Cafe Zucchero, where I ordered the Boscaiola, a pasta that came with roasted chicken, mushrooms, and garlic all smothered in a creamy tomato sauce. Although tasty and served al dente, this pasta is common enough that I do believe you're not missing out on much.
Cafe Zucchero also offers an extensive selection of desserts from cakes to custards. My desert of choice was the Il Forno, a baked donut stuffed with ricotta and bittersweet chocolate chips, while my dad chose the Banana Napolean. The Il Forno was great although I wish the donut outside was thinner. Other than being impossibly messy (And what Napolean isn't?), the Banana Napolean is worth getting, if you're into either bananas or puddings of any sort. Overall, the Little Italy in New York is still more impressive and other than the restaurants in San Diego's Little Italy, there's nothing else to look at. It doesn't have a market or any other sort of stores, bu there is a huge farmers market on Saturday.
After lunch, I walked down to the waterfront with my family. Other than having a wide array of boats and ships to look at, it's just nice to walk around. Unfortunately, my brother and I were dressed for winter and it was incredibly hot the day we went, so we ended up walking quickly back to the car. We're probably the biggest wimps ever. We complain when it's too cold and when it gets too hot, we act like we're on the verge of dying.
Fun fact, did you know that San Diego just recently became the second biggest city in California after Los Angeles? One of my favorite things about visiting really urban areas is all the random street art. Rather than graffiti, I prefer murals and silly drawings to decorate the city and add a certain quirk factor to everything.
Before I end this post, I thought I'd share my outfit from the day with you. Ignore my face. I'm not actually mad; that's just how I always look. I'm wearing a silence+noise blazer, a Jason Wu for Target blouse, a St. John brooch, a Burberry bracelet, a Burberry Prorsum purse, Mango jeans, Alexander McQueen sunglasses, and Converse sneakers. It was way too warm for the blazer and the jeans. I really need to get it through my head that California winter really means summer.
