Met Gala: China Through the Looking Glass

Playing: Tongues-Joywave
Reading: Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been? by Joyce Carol Oates
When I first heard the theme for this year's Met Gala, "China: Through the Looking Glass," I cringed a bit. As an Asian-American, I was worried that fashion's biggest event would make a mockery of Chinese culture because let's face it - it's a fine line between celebrating a foreign culture and being racist. I was afraid that Chinese fashion would be shown in costume-y and cheesy ways that would make it hard for Asians to feel genuine pride in their culture.
However, to my surprise, many attendees actually came in tasteful attire that hinted to the Chinese theme without being obnoxious. My personal favorite was Anna Ewers' outfit because it was chic even outside of the Asian context of the night. I loved how her kanzashi-esque hair piece served as subtle reminder of the night's theme without coming off cheesy. Rita Ora's Tom Ford dress also impressed me in the way that its structural shoulders reminded me of a qipao yet it was still a dress that could be worn to any function.
While there were plenty of classy renditions of Chinese dresses like Zhang Ziyi's Caroline Herrera gown and Bee Shaffer's sakura print Alexander McQueen, there were still enough gowns to leave me feeling slightly offended, as if the Chinese theme of the night was taken as an opportunity to put on some sort of a costume. Model Karolina Kurkova's Tommy Hilfiger mini-dress left me feeling especially offended because of its cheesy interpretation of Chinese clothing. Don't you feel like it's too cliche to just show up in a red satin dress with some gold brocade and call it Chinese? It just felt like something you would find in a touristy Chinatown gift shop.
Arguably, Rihanna's dress is just as costume-y as Kurkova's. However, there are two big differences in my mind why Rihanna's outfit was acceptable and why Kurkova's wasn't. First of all, Rihanna is known for her avant-garde taste in fashion, so I saw her dress as more of an appreciation of a work of art rather than a costume. Second of all, Rihanna's dress is from a Chinese designer, Guo Pei. Who am I to argue over the "correct" representation of Chinese culture with another Chinese person?
With that distinction in mind, I couldn't help but wonder, why not just take the easy route for this year's Met Gala and wear a dress from an Asian designer? Isn't that the easiest (and least offensive) way to pay homage to Asian culture?  It's not like you would have to go as extreme as Guo Pei's cape or anything, since there are plenty of luxurious and chic Asian designers to choose from like: Richard Chai, Prabal Gurung, Derek Lam, Philip Lim, Anna Sui, Alexander Wang, Vera Wang, and Jason Wu. I just felt like considering how many amazing Asian designers there are, it was disappointing to see so few Asian brands represented at the gala, considering the theme.

Robertson Blvd.

Playing: Shot at the Night-The Killers
Rereading: Light Boxes by Shane Jones
I kind of got over the cupcake trend just like I got over the frozen yogurt and red velvet trends fairly quickly, but that doesn't mean I'm going to pass up a chance to try Georgetown Cupcakes. I actually stumbled by the Los Angeles location on accident, while I was out shopping. Pictured above are the Double Butterscotch, Strawberry, Chocolate Ganache, and Peanut Butter Chocolate cupcakes. Honestly, all of them were delicious and I usually dislike chocolate cupcakes, but these are worth trying. The Double Butterscotch was my favorite with piece of butterscotch embedded into the bottom.
Along the same road, Robertson Blvd., there's a Kartell store. Unfortunately, since it was Sunday, it was not open, but I enjoyed window shopping just because everything was so fun to look at. Ideally, I would love to fill my house with fun furniture and this store definitely feeds into my lucite obsession. It also relates back to my interest in Jeff Koons' art.
Another store that was closed, but I wished it was open was H. Lorenzo. The window displays had the most perfect outfits that mixed classic styles with modern elements. I like how the sweet dress in the middle is off set by the bright red clutch and the feminine trumpet hem on the skirt to the left is off set by an edgier top and necklace. This store housed a lot of different brands from KTZ to Comme des Garcons to Forme Depression, which are all difficult brands to find.
I have been a part of National Charity League for almost seven years now and at the end of NCL, they give us a chance to be a part of what they call "presents." Presents is actually just a debutante ball, but I will not be doing presents this year because the dress rules are excessively strict. To quote the dress rules, NCL presents "values conformity." I want to be a part of a debutante ball, but not at the price of conformity and having to wear either an ugly or boring dress. Every dress I have ever wanted for presents was vetoed by the dress rules because you're not allowed to do a non A-line dress and it cannot have lace or be backless. For someone like me, I prefer doing straight up and down gowns because A-line dresses with petticoats make me look shorter than I already am. These dresses from Les Habitudes would have been perfect for me, but I know that all of them will be rejected. And with that rant, I leave all you lovely readers to do my Econ homework.

Spring Break Update

Playing: Can You Feel It Tonight-One Night Only
Reading: Two Soldiers by William Faulkner
Left to Right: Kavya, John Paul, Sabrina, and Me
Right before holiday, a group of friends and I participated in our school's talent show. We did a dance, where the six of us dressed up as our favorite people from the 1980s and it was borderline school inappropriate. I've started to realize that I do a lot of things that are funny outside of school, but really inappropriate for school. We had John Paul (as Rick Astley) RickRoll the audience by popping out at the end of our performance and killing Sophie (as Lena) and then we had Josh (as Freddie Mercury) start stripping. Kavya (as Mick Jagger) and I (as David Bowie) did the gay scene from "Dancing in the Streets" in which they put their faces up to one another, so that left Sabrina (as a cat from the Cure's song, "Lovecats") as the only decent one in the group.
On the last day of school, Sarah and Sophie hosted a gangster picnic and craft day combo, where we all sat around and drew together, while having lunch. It was supposed to be gangster/wizard themed but the closest thing we got to grills was braces and the closest thing we got to wizards was a beard. It was still a really nice way to start spring break, though.
I left the picnic early to go to someone's birthday party, but they switched the location on me right when I showed up at the beach they told me to go to, so I was really upset and ended up going to Tea Station to eat away my anger. But seriously, I drove an hour there and back and wasted a quarter of a tank of gas to go to this specific beach only to be told they wanted me to drive to another location they weren't even sure of yet. I also paid $15 for five minutes worth of parking. I left a picnic early for them and skipped on another party for them.
The next day I went to Old Town Orange on a hunt for vintage jewelry, which proved to be more expensive than I willing to pay, so I hung out in my favorite Starbucks ever. This Starbucks used to be an old bank and it's beautiful inside, definitely a great place to hang out and I wish my friends would come here to study with me instead. By the way, have you tried their new layered macchiatos? They're so good!
On the same day, I decided it was time I ate healthier, so I went to Gelson's for their salad bar. Notice the lack of lettuce? It was all in my juice and it shocked me to take a sip only to realize that this didn't taste like apples, cucumbers, and lemon at all. Just because I like sharing tales of my travels with you, try pouring some balsamic vinegar on strawberries. I had that in Florence and it's such a good combination, even in pasta salads.
Just yesterday, I visited East Village in Long Beach, which is being praised as the next artist hang out and truthfully, I wasn't impressed. It's probably because I went on Easter, so nothing was open. Hopefully, I'll get the chance to go back and eat there on a day, when more action is taking place. It's steps from the beach has a few cute cafes I would like to try, so I'll definitely go back soon. Sorry for not commenting on your blogs lately. I haven't been on blogger for awhile, since I've been busy with school and being sociable lately. I'll get back to commenting as soon as possible!

"Pourquoi tu gâches ta vie?"

Playing: You Don't Have to Say You Love Me-Dusty Springfield
Just a little update about everything going on in my mind right now. I'm trying to convince myself that I could be happy in Los Angeles. I've always loved Los Angeles, but for so long now, I've had it stuck in my head that I need to move to New York or London in order for me to be happy, but now I feel so lost and I don't know what I really want anymore. I've never felt cool enough for Los Angeles, but then again I feel like I would be so lost in New York if I didn't have any friends there to help me adjust. I just need to stop thinking so much and go outside of my comfort level, so that I can go to New York. Hear that Alexander Wang? I'm coming.
On to happier topics now. I went to go see Antigone and my friend, John Paul, was working one of the food stands, so I took a photo with him, but my camera struggles with taking clear photos in the dark, so now you get to see John Paul and me looking blurry as if we're "regenerating" according to Sabrina, who played Antigone. So many of my friends starred in Antigone, so I knew I had to go watch them perform. Plus I read the play last year in English class.
Over the weekend, I went to Mitsuwa to pick up some of my favorite snacks/drinks in the world. Tina got me hooked on these chips and now the Trader Joe's version isn't good enough for me anymore. These are so fluffy and cute with their little heart shaped waffle design. The peach water is seriously my favorite drink and I can drink it just about anytime ever. While I was in Japan, I drank two of these everyday, when I wasn't drinking melon soda or various other cutesy drinks.
Oh and here's an outfit I wore sometime to do some errands. I'm wearing a Zara collared blouse, a now winter staple Hawkings McGill sweater, Mango jeans, Madewell boots, and a Burberry Prorsum purse. By now, you've probably figured out I love wearing colored jeans and wearing Burberry. I'm seriously tempted to do a Burberry challenge like I have to incorporate something Burberry into every outfit of mine. Also, I should take some outfit photos in some other places for once.

The title is from "Elle Me Dit" by Mika. I chose that because it translates to "Why are you wasting your life?" and all these hardcore fobs ask me that all the time, since I like having fun and I'm a rebel by Asian standards. They always criticize me for drawing during class, dancing with my friends sporadically, not learning Chinese/Japanese/Korean, listening to "trashy music" (by their standards, anything that isn't classical music or K-pop),  admiring people like Tim Burton/Holden Caulfield/Ferris Bueller/Anna Wintour, screaming a lot, etc. and I'm getting tired of it, so dear fobs, do keep in mind I'm not one of you. The standards for my life are that of your typical American teenager, not one that lives in whatever country you're accustomed to. End rant.

Edit-I'm not mad at all fobs nor do I think fobs are bad people. I'm just mad at them for always trying to interfere in my life and for making me feel like I'm wasting my life.

"We're Going Up-Up-Up"

Playing: Good Old Days-Matt Maltese (Have had this on repeat for days!)
Reading: Spring 2013 Ready-to-Wear: Alexander Wang by Nicole Phelps
I started the new school year and my General Physics class is a complete joke so far. I wish there was another science class I could switch into. The AP science courses are too difficult, but the college prep classes are way too easy and what I really need is an Honors Physics class right now. The discrepancy between the two levels is too large and there's nothing for people like me, who are in between. Plus, science is my worst subject. End rant. Enjoy the photos.
Before I had to go back to school, my family and I had to drop my brother off at college, which involved our annual six to eight hour (depending on traffic) drive up to Berkeley. Although the scenery is pretty to look at, it stays constant throughout most of the ride, so eventually you start to get this feeling that you've seen this all before. On the bright side, it gave me six to eight hours to listen to my new Killers CDs and some other CDs I had in the car.
We finally got to our hotel, the Claremont Resort and Spa, some time in the afternoon, where we unloaded all our stuff. The Claremont Resort and Spa is a pretty hotel and very nice, but I find the service to be either great or really awful depending on who I ask for help. This time there weren't any problems with the service, but the last two times, I had to deal with sassy workers and not sassy in a fun way.
While walking around Berkeley, there was this cool apartment complex that had all these plants dripping down like a waterfall. It was absolutely gorgeous and was a interesting contrast to the clean lines of the building. Also, imagine hanging out with friends on the patio up above.
For dinner, my brother suggested Noodle Theory, which always has a long line. We waited for thirty-five minutes in the cold outside just to get a table. The things my family will do for food. It was completely worth it though because I thought this was one of the best places we ate at. The Mr. Q Cumber Cucumber Soda was refreshing and a nice way to cool off your mouth after all the spicy foods. For our appetizer, we ordered the Chinese Five Spice Sweet Potato Fries with a Thai Green Curry Aioli. The aioli didn't really taste like curry to me, more like a cinnamon dip, but nonetheless, it was very tasty and the sweet potato fries were crispy and hot.
The Grilled Niman Ranch Beef with Udon in a Coconut Lime Curry Broth was so amazing. The broth was flavorful and the beef was tender, while the udon did soak up some of the flavor. Out of all the dishes my family ordered, I thought this one was the best, even though everything else was super delicious too. Despite the long wait, I highly recommend eating here at least once. I will be uploading more photos from my trip soon, so please look forward for those.

State Testing is Done!

Playing: Major Tom-Peter Schilling
Reading: Neil Patrick Harris Wikipedia Page
Do any of you have to take standardized tests issued by the state? For me, I spent last week taking all of the CST's and STAR's, which are both California state exams. The problem is, the tests are too easy for most of the students in my school district and especially for me. They're almost a joke at my school and to be truthful, we make fun of the CAHSEE a lot. For example, after a tough test, we will say jokingly, "At least it wasn't as hard as the CAHSEE!" For the five exams I had to take, they gave me a total of nine hours split up into three sessions, but I only spent four hours actually taking the test. Then we're not allowed to do anything after the test because it might lead us to cheat, so we sit there with nothing to do and then the test administrators chastise us for getting antsy. It's stupid to force us to stay once we finish the test. It's also appalling what the education system is like in the USA, if it's true that a good chunk of the people taking these tests actually fail them...End rant.
After one of our testing days, I went out with Tiffany, Christine, and Tina to hang out and just go around doing whatever we felt like. We stopped off at Starbuck's to get drinks plus lunch for Tina and me. I like giving stores fake names, when they ask for it, so at Starbuck's, I'm now officially Mercedes. Next time, I want to be Celia Bowen or Asta, who are both from books that I've enjoyed.
Left to Right: Tina, Christine, and Tiffany
We then went to an Albertson's to get lunch for Christine and Tiffany, so we decided to eat our lunches inside Albertson's because real hipsters like hanging out inside of super markets. Known fact. Not really. Deal with my sarcasm, please.
We walked around Marshall's after lunch, looking for a red or white dress for me to wear to Ghazal's Fire&Ice themed birthday party. Also special about that day was that Tina and I agreed to wear our Cole Haan oxfords, so that we could kind of be twinsies together. No, my legs aren't abnormally muscular or fat. Tina is just very skinny and happens to weigh as much as a mouse. In other news, Christine told me my feet looked like cotton candy.
Once we were done looking through Marshall's, Tina took us to Styles For Less to shop for herself and to continue my hunt for a dress for Ghazal's party. Tina left with a pretty, Grecian style, white, chiffon-like dress that she'll be wearing for Latin's Toga Days at school instead of a bed sheet from now on. Most stylish ancient Roman that looks Japanese ever! Afterwards we wandered over to a drug store to look at the nail polishes and to look at how outdated this particular drug store is. It's like stepping into the 1990's, only kind of depressing.
Even though I didn't find a dress that day, I did find an inexpensive blazer at Marshall's that's very Beetlejuice in my opinion. I've been looking for a black and white striped blazer for awhile and this was the first one I found at a decent price with acceptable quality. I need to add some more interesting pieces to my closet instead of just solid colored clothing. I also like the bright pink lining because it looks like something Mondo Guerra would do.
Oh and here's a bonus photo. Read what it says, I'll wait. I love the Engrish mistake made here and how this was not at a foreign market. I usually find this type of stuff at Asian and Persian places, but this is a great example of what I was ranting about before. The American school system. What you gonna do?

Fashion isn't Shallow

Playing: Bizarre Love Triangle-New Order
Reading: Alexander McQueen: Genius of a Generation by Kristin Knox
We had to write a short, informal essay about a cultural aspect we found interesting for English and after being called shallow by many people for liking fashion, I decided this essay would be a nice way of telling them to shut up that fashion isn't superficial. This fits into culture, right? I mean it's clothes and clothes show culture, right?
Dior Haute Couture S/S 2011 (One of the best shows of all time!)
Even though fashion is all about looks and who’s wearing what, the idea that fashion is shallow is completely false because fashion is for everyone, even those who resist it. “Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening,” Coco Chanel once said. Fashion isn’t something that applies to only clothes, but is something that affects the way we live and what we do. At the most extreme side, thoughts and ideas have to do with what’s in vogue. For example, it’s not very in vogue to be a racist, so racism is looked down upon. Style applies to the ideas that flow in and out of our heads, telling us what is cool to believe in and what’s not popular to think. Fashion has the ability to morph our ideas and the world’s outlook on life.
Rumi Neely proving that sweatpants don't have to be a sign of defeat.
Everyone has to get dressed in clothes everyday no matter what their job is, so therefore, fashion applies to everyone. Even the sloppiest of sweatpants says something about you and can be a fashion statement. According to Karl Lagerfeld, “Sweat pants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of your life, so you bought some sweatpants.”  That’s what your sweatpants are telling the world. Whether you wear shredded jeans or haute couture, your clothing does say something about you. People judge others based on their appearance, so shouldn’t we all get a little dressed up, even if it’s just out of courtesy to others? None of us truly want to be the nation’s eyesore and embarrass our country, do we?
Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture F/W 2011
Even those anti-fashion people, who believe that dressing in torn sweaters and acting like a rocker will show how anti-fashion they are, take part in fashion. They’re just appealing to a different type of fashion. Rather than the high glamor fashion of magazines like Elle or Harper’s Bazaar, they’re trying to fit in with what is considered rocker chic. Whether you want to admit it or not, you probably care about your looks too and what you wear to a certain extent, right? Dressing up is what makes me feel like I’m expressing myself and what makes me feel wonderful and special. It has the ability to boost my height (Thank you heels!) and can make me feel tougher than I really am (Thank you Marc by Marc Jacobs boots!). Well, that’s fashion and what’s so shallow about something that can boost your confidence and transform who you are?

Halloween

Playing: Quelqu'un m'a dit-Carla Bruni
Reading: A Perfect Day For Bananafish by JD Salinger (I've been obsessing over Salinger's short stories.)
Happy belated Halloween! I know this is super late, since it's been almost a month. Believe it or not, I've been inundated with schoolwork lately, so I just don't have the time to blog that much. I'm going go to try to do a whole bunch of drafts today, since I finished my homework early today. This year Halloween was very different from most years because it was so last minute. It was literally the night before me calling Sophie and asking her if I could join. Haha, it turned out great though after I finished all my homework.
At 9:00 PM on October 30th, my dad literally came in with a pumpkin and was like, "LET'S DO THIS!" Since I had a late start the next day, I was able to stay up and carve it. I decided to go for a simple pumpkin  inspired by the entrance to the Tim Burton art exhibit. However I realized that without paint it would be hard to get all of the lines and designs right, so I simplified it majorly.
Heh heh, I wore my costume to school the next day because Sophie told me too and when I first showed up to Algebra, a whole bunch of us were in costumes and we were greeted by our teacher asking us, "Aren't you too old to be dressing up for Halloween?" All of us were in shock and told her that of course, we aren't too old and that she should cancel our homework for that night. Then when I got to the rest of my classes, I thought everyone would be dressed up and barely anyone was, so I was teased a bunch. When we got to PE, I had no idea how to store my wig and wig cap, so I hung them up neatly. Does anyone know how to store a wig, so that it won't tangle a bunch? Right now I have it hanging on my staircase.
Finally nighttime came and I ran over to Sophie's place to meet her and Austin. Then we waited for Adam and Aadil. I was super excited to see Aadil (pictured above) because I hadn't seen him in almost a year. He let Sophie and me dress him up as a cat surgeon. You can't see his kitty ears in this photo though. I'm not super close to Austin and I just met Adam, so I felt too awkward to ask them, if I could put photos of them on my blog, so you won't be seeing any for now.
Once all of us got together, Sophie's dad took some group photos of us together using his fancy camera and we ran off to act like little kids. Sophie is dressed as minun and her boyfriend, Austin, went as plusle! How adorable, right? I liked how all of our costumes were homemade that night or put together with clothes we all owned already. I wish I could put a photo of Adam up here because he had the best costume. He was a gentleman cowboy. Haha, it was awesome. As you can see, people decorated their houses and in one neighborhood, there were these huge spiderwebs stretching across the street.
I was actually dressed as Coraline that night and I know my hair is wrong. (I bought the wig before I figured out what I was going as. All I knew was I wanted a wig, so I grabbed a cheap one and then decided on Coraline.) This costume was literally created on the day before Halloween. I pinned a bunch of stars onto a black sweater in my attempt to look like this. Then we added glow sticks to Aadil's glasses and I became Lady Gaga for a second or two. (By the way, don't you like how Aadil is smizing in this photo?) We just sat down and joked around with each other after we were done trick-or-treating. While I was playing around with my wig, I remembered how much I liked having super long hair and I decided I want straight across bangs. The only problem I have with getting blunt bangs is that people at school will call me fobby or think I'm a fob, when I'm not. Since I'm Asian, blunt bangs are considered fobby, while on a white girl, it's considered indie. What the heck? I'm fully American, but I don't look it, so I can't get blunt bangs without being called a fob. Lame, right?
How was your Halloween?

Project Runway Finale

Playing: Safe and Sound-Kyosuke Himuro Feat. Gerard Way
Reading: Talking to Girls About Duran Duran by Rob Sheffield
The Project Runway Finale was very disappointing and I'm questioning myself as to why I watch Project Runway. Three out of the four seasons that I have watched have ended in my disappointment with who has won. The only person that has won, where I believe he completely deserved it, was Seth Aaron and I still completely stick to my original opinion that Mondo Guerra deserved to win. This season angered me the most because I purposely skipped my school's homecoming game thinking to myself, "Joshua or Viktor is definitely going to win and that will be really satisfying to see Anya go home!" on the bright side, at least I went to the water polo game that day to watch my friend from another school play.
Viktor Luna's collection showcased his perfect tailoring and his good taste. I  think in terms of what I would want to spend my money on, this was the collection is the winner. I can see myself wanting almost all of the pieces in the collection. The prints totally remind me of Alexander McQueen S/S 2010 and I loved how he edited the photos he took of Mexico to create these beautiful prints. I don't think it's fair how the judges criticized him for making so many black and sheer pieces. They told him to put in a plain black outfit for the white jacket. Then Michael Kors said sheer is used as a shock factor, not for multiple outfits, but I have seen many designers like Valentino and Alexander Wang do multiple sheer outfits in one collection. I also truly believe that in terms of long term success, Viktor has the best chance of moving himself in the same direction as Christian Siriano. To see the rest of his collection and where I got the above photos from, click here. Viktor also has a blog, which you should check out.
Joshua McKinley definitely has some amazing ideas and he's full of them. He knows how to push the envelope and how to create new and exciting looks. Overall, I felt his show was the most innovative and I loved his use of plastic because it's something I can see Christopher Kane doing. His collection was unconventional, but also something that I can see people buying and wanting. I love the blazer in the first photo and I would definitely wear that. In terms of having the ideas, Joshua has them and he can make them happen. The one thing the judges kept on saying is, "This is a design competition, not a sewing competition." Well, both Viktor and Joshua can sew and they have the ideas! Since I couldn't find any good photos to showcase the whole collection, I used the one from this website.
Even though Anya won, I truly don't think she has the best collection. I agree that her dresses looked nice, except for the 4th one in the collage, which looks like a potato sack, but they all look the same. All of them had that insanely deep v-neck that isn't realistic for anyone to wear unless their name is Paris Hilton. I live in Southern CA and I've never seen people wear clothing like this. The other thing that bothered me a lot about her winning is the fact that in the past, other contestants have lost for showing the same thing at fashion week as they have shown the whole season and Anya has shown what she calls "a consistent point of view" and the judges never saw anything wrong with her showing the same Caribbean thing again and again. Also, do you really believe that Anya can translate to F/W? Real designers have to do both S/S and F/W, but this whole Caribbean look doesn't work in the fall, winter, or even in the city. Let me end my rant with a few concluding sentences because I won't want to leave you hanging or anything...Overall, I don't think Anya deserved it compared to Joshua or Viktor, who can sew and have the ideas. Also, no one wears Anya's clothes and I don't think she's all that creative. She sews what the same look as the clothes she buys for herself. It just isn't fair. Even though you probably don't want to see her whole collection because it's so repetitive, I'm gonna link it anyways, since I got  the photos from here too.
Who designed your favorite collection?
PS I'm so lame for choosing a TV show over homecoming. And I know that I used tons of run on sentences in this post and that it's pretty long. Also, I purposely didn't show Kimberly's collection because her collection didn't add anything to this post. To avoid copyright issues and all that, let me say this, I don't own the images and I have linked the source of where I've gotten them from. However, I did put the first and last collages together.

First Day of School and Ideas

Mood: Disappointed
Playing: Take My Hand-The Perfect Measure
Rip Rip had his first day at school a week ago and I had mine today. If you don't want to read about my problems, skip to the next paragraph! I think Rip Rip's might have gone better than mine. I was looking forward to going off campus, but apparently, if you were wearing white, you got a water balloon tossed at you from the seniors. I was wearing a white V-neck, so I ate on campus. I'm fairly unhappy that I don't have many classes with my good friends in them, but I do have at least one friend in every class. Lacrosse and science look like they're going to be the hardest classes. I like lacrosse, but I've never been any good at athletics, so I'm not sure if taking lacrosse, was the the best idea on my part. The part about lacrosse that seems hard is getting there on time. I need to run from English to the coach's English room to grab my clothes and lacrosse gear. Then I must run to the boys' locker room to get changed. (The girls' locker room is under construction, so the girls took over the boys' locker room.) Then after that I must run to a park off campus for the actual lacrosse training. I'm not sure how long that will take me...I was also looking forward to seeing many of my friends that I haven't seen for a long time like Alyssa, Hoho, and Matthew. I didn't really see them for that long. When I saw Hoho, he wanted to give me a hug, which was awkward because I had all these friends with me.
I want to start on a topic that is a tad more interesting. I have been into designing clothes for a very long time, but lately I have been into high end fashion a lot. Most of my summer was spent reading Vogue, Elle, People:Style Watch, Pinky(Which I look at, since I can't read Japanese), and other random Japanese magazines. I'm thinking about cutting out looks from different magazines and keeping them in a box. I'll cut out pictures of outfits that I like, that way if I ever do launch my own line, I know what I like and what interests me. (I know that I'll probably get a more practical job, than dealing with fashion, but we can all dream right?) Think of it as an inspiration of some sort, even a place that can help me decide where I would like to take my style. I want to try dressing better, instead of the normal jeans and a t-shirt look. I think that, if I were to keep this box filled with interesting looks, I could try and make myself dress better? I don't know. What do you think?

P.S. I wore my American Apparel bow, from the last post, and I got tons of compliments. I'm thinking of getting more, but they're so expensive!
